Thanks for swinging in! Writing with a bunch of smart young people, we blog about the monkey business of life with tweens 8-15, and love anything shiny and new. Book/movie/game reviews, shopping, nom nom snacks, OMG news and issues, pop stars, and YouTube LOLs are fair game in this jungle.

Unpeeling the banana... launching a new tween blog.

(Swinging in from a vine)

Hellooo shiny friends!
Today launches my new blog "Shiny Monkey" - a labor of love I'm launching for parents of tweens with the help of my two funny kids, Owen and Olivia. Yep, say O&O repeatedly, and you sound like a monkey.

This blog will ripen over time, but for now I'm planning on writing about all things new and interesting as they relate to boys and girls 8-14 years old:

  • Downloads and Standup (funny YouTube videos, iTunes stuff, standup comedy bits, etc.)
  • Gadgets and Games (tech/gaming reviews, thinking about rating stuff on a 1-5 banana scale)
  • Shopping... for Peanuts (deals, discounts, reviews – more affordable stuff for moms/dads/tweens)
  • Pop culture news and reviews (books, movies, Hollywood bits, TV shows, XM Radio programming)
  • “Nom nom” - snacks and dining out – no recipes/meal stuff
  • Health & beauty - yea, the girls like to relax - spas, manicures, hair trends
  • Outdoor adventures – skiing, snorkeling, ziplines, adventurous but not too extreme
  • Family travel tips - we love to travel - grab the vine and go!
  • Unplugged monkeys– creative indoor play, practical jokes, board games, storytelling, monkeying around!

Grab a banana - here we go!  Ideas and comments welcome... especially as I get started!
