Thanks for swinging in! Writing with a bunch of smart young people, we blog about the monkey business of life with tweens 8-15, and love anything shiny and new. Book/movie/game reviews, shopping, nom nom snacks, OMG news and issues, pop stars, and YouTube LOLs are fair game in this jungle.

Life with Liv: an attitude of gratitude

In celebration of Liv's ninth birthday, we are practicing an attitude of gratitude.

Sorry to be self-indulgent. Mama monkey's gotta show some love today, and encourage you all to take a moment to indulge yourself to remind yourself what YOU are grateful for today.

Liv: we grateful for who you are and for traveling with us on this swirling, amazing, wonderous place we call Earth.  You are sassy, empathetic, passionate, clever, a seasoned traveler, a great friend and family member, and I'm infinitely proud to call you my daughter. I love that you care about your friends, social issues, animals and homeless people. I am grateful for that look you get when you discover something new - and your huge laugh when you are being silly. Which is a lot of the time. I love that you let us interrupt you, and that your huge anger bursts are just that - bursts, then you forgive. Never lose all those qualities.

Nine years ago this morning (about a week late) you entered this world pink and pouty, screaming BIG, and soon curled some pretty amazing monkey toes around your parents' fingers... you had us at "goo".  Happy birthday, Livvie Lou Who... we are grateful for the girl you are, and the young woman you will soon become.
I can't find any pics of Liv pouting.
Grateful for a perpetual
joyous smile!
