Thanks for swinging in! Writing with a bunch of smart young people, we blog about the monkey business of life with tweens 8-15, and love anything shiny and new. Book/movie/game reviews, shopping, nom nom snacks, OMG news and issues, pop stars, and YouTube LOLs are fair game in this jungle.

Pop Star News: Harry Makes History

Happy Monday to you, readers, and to all those involved with the creation and promotion of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, a magical film series based on author JK Rowlings' books, a series started ten years ago when the young adult stars were relatively unknown teens. (Daniel Radcliffe was 12 when the first HP film premiered Nov. 16, 2001.)

From the NY Post

The film cast a spell on fans (tweens and teens especially) all over the world over this weekend, taking in a record-breaking $168.5 million — the most any film has grossed in an opening weekend in history, beating Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and even beating its own predecessor Half Blood Prince. The film also set new records for biggest midnight opening ever, and now holds the title for best opening day ever. Worldwide, the film set a opening weekend record at $475.6. That's a lot of magic!
