Digital Drew Reviews: Pandora Pleases Right Out Of The Box

Digital Drew
Today we welcome a new blogger to My Shiny Monkey: Digital Drew!  He's a bit more seasoned (soon a sophomore in high school!) but he's got a passion for all things digital, and he's going to share with us some gadgets and apps he likes.  Let's open Pandora's box and see what Drew thinks of this internet radio sensation and its mobile application... got a gadget question for Drew? Comment below!

Did you ever want to find a song by a certain artist, or song similar to what you are listening to, and had trouble finding these songs? Pandora Internet Radio and its mobile application (or "app") has it all!

Pandora's app is on iTunes, and has many specialties and functions that will make the job easier, but also has some  tweaks. For the people planning on purchasing this app, don't worry: you will soon experience how functional and simple it is to use.

Here are a few features I like:
1. You can automatically switch the song the artist sang to another song in the same genre. (Pandora calls them "genes".)

2. Pandora is also famous for rating their songs.  The sweet thing about the rating is if you rate the song negative, it will automatically switch the song while keeping the same genre for you.

3. Pandora keeps its history organized by every song you look up sorted in alphabetical order or by date.

4. What I personally believe is really neat about Pandora is the fact that if you don’t know the name of the song you want, you can find it by typing in the artist's name.

Overall I believe Pandora is well worth it. Did I mention Pandora is free

A few features I don't like:
On the other hand there are a few features that need to be improved upon.  An example of this is if a feature comes on automatically, it stays on; it will waste battery life unless you remember to shut it off manually.  Another area of improvement is that the Pandora radio app is limited to songs, and only gives you similar songs while it could give you similar things such as movies and apps. (Editor's note: Pandora radio app must be connected to the internet, and is not downloadable... just for free listening. Here are more limitations from their website.)

As you can see, the Pandora app is a very successful and reliable source to locate and listen to music via the internet.  The app is as simple as a touch of a finger, so get it now.
