Thanks for swinging in! Writing with a bunch of smart young people, we blog about the monkey business of life with tweens 8-15, and love anything shiny and new. Book/movie/game reviews, shopping, nom nom snacks, OMG news and issues, pop stars, and YouTube LOLs are fair game in this jungle.

9/11: I Will... A Post about 911Day.org

For many younger tweens, the events of September 11, 2001 are difficult to comprehend because they were not even born on that fateful day, and don't have the first-hand experience of watching those horrific events unfold before our eyes on TV and online.  For adults, those images are indelible, incredible, and indescribable, even a decade later.

For the families, friends and survivors impacted by that day, there is a glimmer of hope, a ray of light, and a positive outcome: The 9/11 Tribute Movement (http://www.911day.org).  With a goal of becoming the single largest day of charitable service in United States history, will you say "I Will.." with me?

Work with your family, community group, church or school to:

-- Make 9/11 a day when individuals, nonprofits, companies, schools and other groups around the world remember by doing, taking time to engage in charitable service in tribute of the victims and survivors of 9/11 and all those who rose in service in response to the attacks.

-- Join an influential coalition of organizations working together to say I Will... plan and implement the 9/11 Day Observance for the 10-year anniversary of 9/11.  MyGoodDeed Inc., Points of Light Institute, HandsOn Network, and many, many others organizations and supporters have stepped up in collaboration on this one day.

-- Visit the 911day.org website and Facebook page to post your tribute to this special day and find a local event on or before 9/11.  Visit and share here too: Facebook.com/911day.

-- Visit the sites above and let them know what you can do to join the tribute and observe September 11th with a simple idea... joining a national movement of people who choose to make 9/11 a national day of service and remembrance.

-- Visit sites like Boston Cares to find a project near you.

Monkeys love working together... for an amazing cause.
