(Swinging in from a vine)
Hellooo shiny friends!
"My Shiny Monkey" is a labor of love targeting kids and their hip and shiny parents - now in year two. The blog is written by me AND some other smart youth contribute to the blog, including my two tweens Owen and Olivia. Yep, say O-O repeatedly, and you sound like a monkey. I also participate in brand events through the Boston Parents Bloggers Network, and have a somewhat neglected site on Examiner.com about "Boston Tween Life."
This blog will ripen over time, but we are grateful to have enjoyed over 50,000 pageviews, Facebook fans, and Twitter followers in a short period of time. Must be due to the fact that we have some smart young people writing for their peers and sharing the monkey love. Thank you!
We write about all things new and interesting as they relate to boys and girls 8-14 years old:
Grab a banana - here we go! Ideas and comments always welcome.

We write about all things new and interesting as they relate to boys and girls 8-14 years old:
- Downloads and Standup: funny YouTube videos, iTunes finds, standup comedy bits
- Gadgets and Games - both plugged and unplugged
- Shopping... for Peanuts: deals, discounts, affordable stuff for moms/dads/tweens)
- Pop culture news and reviews: books, movies, music, young Hollywood, TV shows, XM Radio programs
- “Nom nom”: snacks and dining out – no recipes/meal stuff
- Health & Beauty: spas, manicures, hair trends
- Outdoor adventures: skiing, snorkeling, ziplines, roller coasters... we are adventurous, but not extreme
- Family travel tips: we love to grab the vine and go!
- Unplugged monkeys: creative play, practical jokes, board games, storytelling, monkeying around with Happy Meal boxes!
