Japanese singing star and commercial talent Aimi Eguchi is beautiful, funny and has a sweet smile and pretty face, and was introduced as the newest member of Japan's pop girl group AKB48.
Her only flaw? She's not human.
Eguchi created quite a stir online as the newest addition to the popular Japanese singing group AKB48, with her own profile on their website. Through the miracle of technology, Eguchi is actually a composite of the six AKB48 girls... and a seventh girl provided the voice.
The tip off? AKB48 is actually an "idol group" of 77 different girls (think Mickey Mouse Club) - no one girl ever gets that much publicity as an individual. The secret was revealed by a Japanese candy company who featured her in an ad, and then posted a video on how she was created on its website.
This isn't the first time Japanese pop fans have fallen in love with a virtual pop star: Hatsune Miku rose to fame in 2007, singing at anime expo as a hologram and creating a stir online.
