Thanks for swinging in! Writing with a bunch of smart young people, we blog about the monkey business of life with tweens 8-15, and love anything shiny and new. Book/movie/game reviews, shopping, nom nom snacks, OMG news and issues, pop stars, and YouTube LOLs are fair game in this jungle.

GLAAD to take a stand against bullying - go purple!

Go purple today, October 19 for #SpiritDay!

This month, we've been posting [almost] daily with news, tips, and even pics/vids educating our readers about bullying prevention. You might even say we care so much about this cause that we will talk until we are blue in the face. Actually, we are purple-faced.

This year, GLAAD has designated October 1-19 the "19 Days of Action for Spirit Day" with some steps YOU can take to help stand up to bullying and show your support for all kids, including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth. Millions of people are wearing purple to show their support... will you? Click here to get started... and take a stand!

Everyone from Oprah to the cast of Jersey Shore went purple last year. Even the White House joined the cause! Check out this year's Spirit Day Ambassadors

How do I get involved? GLAAD says: "It’s easy! Simply take the pledge to "go purple" and help create a world in which LGBT teens are celebrated and accepted for who they are. You can also download our Spirit Day resource kit, which has ways you can turn your community purple. Spirit Day participants can also spread the word and tell their friends that they're standing up against bullying."
