Thanks for swinging in! Writing with a bunch of smart young people, we blog about the monkey business of life with tweens 8-15, and love anything shiny and new. Book/movie/game reviews, shopping, nom nom snacks, OMG news and issues, pop stars, and YouTube LOLs are fair game in this jungle.

Heading to BlogHer '12 this week!

Flats or fancy footwear? Little black dress or colorful cardigan? Katie Couric or curled up for a nap? Martini or margarita?

Questions are swirling in my head as I prepare for my first BlogHer conference this week in New York City. I've been to a dozen big brand events and a few regional conferences, but this one seems fraught with logistics that worries even an experienced event planner and communications pro like me.

I like to have achievable goals at these educational events, so here goes:

1. Meet and connect with ten new bloggers, and follow their blogs via Google reader.
2. Meet and connect with five exciting brands most relevant to this tween blog - and to you! (Giveaway alert!)
2. Be grateful to be in the presence of so many savvy, geeky, smart, caring and supportive women, and to hear speakers Katie Couric, Martha Stewart and Soledad O'Brien first-hand.
3. Be grateful for the chance to be a part of the Big Apple's energy for a few days.
4. Form closer connections to my fellow Boston Parent Bloggers Network pals - many of whom I'll be sharing a McDonald's Bus ride with to and from the event!
5. Gain more technical knowledge - photography, the business of blogging, etc. and share what I know with others.

Mostly, I want to drink in the energy and the collaborative spirit of this event and glean what learnings I can from it.... and make some new contacts and, hopefully, friends. I'll be tweeting and posting from the event, so keep reading.
