Thanks for swinging in! Writing with a bunch of smart young people, we blog about the monkey business of life with tweens 8-15, and love anything shiny and new. Book/movie/game reviews, shopping, nom nom snacks, OMG news and issues, pop stars, and YouTube LOLs are fair game in this jungle.

Turn that frown upside down with Shel Silverstein poems

Sometimes a monkey just needs to be silly. Do you?

If you are ever feeling blue, read this poem by author and poet Shel Silverstein
He's the really talented guy who wrote "The Giving Tree" - you probably know that one.

“How many slams in an old screen door? Depends how loud you shut it.
How many slices in a bread? Depends how thin you cut it.
How much good inside a day? Depends how good you live 'em.
How much love inside a friend? Depends how much you give 'em.”

There are lots of funny shiny games, activities and poems on this author's website,
and really silly things too like downloadable screen savers and word games galore.

We'll be talking more about Mr. Silverstein next month, which is National Poetry Month.
