Christmas is a splendid holiday. Christmas is all about being with family and giving. To most kids it’s about toys and presents. To my point of view Christmas is about being together with family and friends, all the different traditions, love, peace, joy, fun, hope, and of course Santa, his elves, and his reindeer.
Now to Hanukkah, a Jewish holiday. This lovely holiday lasts for eight straight days because long ago a tribe called the Macabees won a battle, but their temple (like a church) got wrecked and ruined. They had a candleholder called a menorah that is now the symbol of Judiasm, as it only had oil for only one night but it lasted for eight days - a miracle!
Now for our last holiday Kwanzaa, an African American holiday. This delightful holiday lasts for one week. It celebrates the African American heritage and culture. Some of the things that we do to celebrate is light a candle holder with seven candles and have a big feast and give out gifts.
December is a very fascinating month.

Thanks for swinging in! Writing with a bunch of smart young people, we blog about the monkey business of life with tweens 8-15, and love anything shiny and new. Book/movie/game reviews, shopping, nom nom snacks, OMG news and issues, pop stars, and YouTube LOLs are fair game in this jungle.
