Hurricane Sandy was scary. It tested our ability as a family to be sure we were ready for whatever might happen. Flashlights, batteries, board games, charged phones, water and nonperishables (yea peanut butter!)...for tweens who are old enough to understand the damage that natural disasters can do, storms can be particularly anxious times.
This Saturday, November 17th, is a great day to think positive, and encourage all families to work toward family preparedness for Family Volunteer Day - details here on Good & Ready's website, but you can create a plan, build a kit, get training, and volunteer in your very own community. Thanks to Heelys and Points Of Light for turning me on to this great organization.
Start by taking a quiz, then pledge to be ready and share your story back here!
Thanks for swinging in! Writing with a bunch of smart young people, we blog about the monkey business of life with tweens 8-15, and love anything shiny and new. Book/movie/game reviews, shopping, nom nom snacks, OMG news and issues, pop stars, and YouTube LOLs are fair game in this jungle.
